Shana Crawford’s work in all forms surround the experiencing of time, using movement, light, and connection to superimpose meaning with feeling; and to disrupt assumptions of creating alone. Recent work has been shared at Hall Pass (PA '25), Danspace (NY ‘25) with AUNTS, Abrons Arts Center (NY ‘25) and the Momentary (AR ‘24) with Justin Cabrillos, Leah Stein in Philadelphia (PA ‘24), Women in Motion Salon (NY ‘23); Residencies at Black Hole Hollow (VT ‘24) and Headlong Institute (PA ‘23).
Shana has collaborated with AUNTS, Lime Rickey Intl, Jessie Young, Juliana May, Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Laurie Berg, Madeline Best, Marion Spencer, Stephianie Acosta and Yanan Yu. Shana was a guest teaching artist at Sarah Lawrence College (NY ‘22), Bennington College (VT ‘18), Center for Performance Research (NY ‘22) and at Young Dance (MN ‘18, 21, 24). Her visual work has been presented with Slow Burn (NY ‘23), the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MN ‘22), LINOKINO (PA ‘21) and Ante Mag (NY ‘21).
You can find Shana at The Chocolate Factory Theater producing performances and community events, and has produced numerous projects and performances in the US and abroad including four River to River Festivals (NY ‘21-’24), and tours in Germany (‘22), Italy (‘19) and Switzerland (‘23).
Shana has a degree in dance and mathematics from Bennington College (‘18), a certificate in Mathematics from BSME in Budapest, HU (‘20), and a Masters of Science in Education from the Bank Street Graduate school (‘23). Shana co-orchestrates the Sometimes Together Group and her work has been shared in NYC, MN, VT, HA, PA, MA, AR, Italy and Spain.
